Introduction to Docker: This is a two-day, on-site or classroom-based training course which introduces you to the Docker platform and takes you through installing, integrating, and running it in your working environment. By the end of the course, you will be familiar with the “why” of Docker. You will also be able to perform the basic tasks needed to get started with Docker and integrate it into your working environment.

Docker Administration and Operations: The Docker Administration and Operations course consists of both the Introduction to Docker course, followed by the Advanced Docker Topics course, held over four consecutive days.

At the end of the first two days, participants will also be able to perform the basic tasks needed to get started with Docker and integrate it into your working environment.

You will then transition into the Advanced Docker Topics modules and learn to use Docker to control the Docker daemon, Setup a secure environment for Docker containers and use Docker Machine, Swarm, and Compose for orchestration tasks including emphasis on Docker’s commercial offerings for the enterprise.

May 5th: Docker Meetup at Microsoft Iberica – Madrid, Spain

May 5th: Docker Meetup in Glasgow – Glasgow, United Kingdom

Talk by Rory McCune – Docker: Security Myths & Legends. Security has been a key topic over the last couple of years for Docker with refrains like “containers don’t contain” being heard alongside more positive articles about docker security. This talk takes a look at the building blocks of docker security including namespacing and capabilities along with some practical recommendations for things to do (and not to do) when configuring Docker to get the best out of the security features it offers.


May 7th: Orchestrating Docker Containers – An overview of the current state – Istanbul, Turkey

DevOps, Agile, Methodology & Tests. Microservices can be packed with and shipped pretty easy in Docker containers. The real challenge is when a large, distributed application has to be built up consisting of several containers which have to communicate with each other. The complexity of the infrastructure when these containers have to be deployed distributed across multiple servers is not to be underestimated. To achieve this there are different approaches.

May 8th: Introduction to Docker – Workshop – Qiryat Shemona, Israel

Docker allows you to package an application with all of its dependencies into a standardized unit for software development. Docker REX prod (~ 30 min) and a presentation of Rancher, a Docker orchestrator (~ 1 hour). Both presentations will be given by Christopher Furmaniak and Youcef Yekhlef from Zenika.


May 12th: Docker Meetup at The Cube Athens – Athens, Greece

Docker for Mac/Windows – how you can get close to native experience – Antonis Kalipetis. We’ll see how Docker can leverage local hypervisors to provide a close to native experience on Mac and Windows. We’ll see which tools come integrated and all the other goodies that come with it.


May 16th: Test Automation with Docker, Cloud and Chaos Llamas – Lisbon, Portugal

Title: Using Docker to Simulate High-Availability, Low-Latency, Heterogeneous Environments. Feedzai’s products have to work under extremely demanding performance constraints, in highly-available, heterogenous environments. Learn how Feedzai leveraged Docker to simulate these environments in a testing infrastructure, the roadblocks it encountered in the process, how it removed them and the next steps going forward.

May 17th: Docker Meetup at Moneybird – Enschede, Netherlands

Using Docker in an Amazon Web Services architecture. We are proud to welcome a speaker from Amazon in Enschede! First talk is Danilo Poccia of Amazon will talk about Docker in AWS and the EC2 Container Service. May 17th: Docker Bash – Belfast, United Kingdom

Containers aren’t a new concept, they’ve existed in one form or another for many years in various operating systems (Solaris zones), but in recent years advances in the ecosystem have made container technology accessible to the masses. May 19th: Docker Meetup at Black Cat Technology Solutions – Birmingham, United Kingdom

In this session you will learn how to build, ship and run a distributed application on your host machine from scratch! Participants in the training will go through the steps involved in running and developing a simple voting app from a fresh computer using Docker Toolbox and Compose. Are you an advanced user? May 26th: Finding Your Perfect Weather with Apache Spark, Docker and IBM Bluemix – Edinburgh, United Kingdom

Speaker: Radek Ostrowski. This presentation tells a story of a hackathon where mixing a cool idea with the latest technologies has resulted in the grand prize and the fan favourite award of the IBM Sparkathon with nearly 600 participants. It will also include a demo on applying the key technologies and how they were effectively combined in the context of the Bluemix platform.

May 5th: Docker Meetup at Rackspace – Austin, TX

Codeship has been powered by containers from the very beginning. In this talk we will discuss our initial implementation using LXC, how we use it and the limitations that we have encountered. Using the lessons we learned from our first gen implementation, we’ll look at the evolution of our next generation Docker service. We’ll dive into how this implementation works and discover some of the benefits and challenges of using Docker for CI


May 10th: Monthly Meeting – Docker & Cron – Harrisburg, PA

Nate Brown will be introducing cron. Cron is a standard Linux utility that lets you schedule jobs to run, like running custom scripts at specified times. May 11th: Docker Meetup at Deis – Boulder, CO

In this talk we will review what Docker is and why it is important to developers, admins and DevOps when they are using a NoSQL Database. There will also be a lively presentation which will include an interactive demo showcasing the core Docker components (Machine, Engine, Swarm and Compose) along with integration with Aerospike.

May 16th – 19th: Docker at OSCON and Open Container Day – Austin, TX

OSCON is the largest open source conference of the year, and Docker always has a big presence. This year in Austin, OSCON starts with Open Container Day because of the importance the container ecosystem has taken on for the open source world. There will be lots of Docker content at OSCON and Open Container Day, with a keynote by Docker’s founder, CTO and Chief Product Officer, Solomon Hykes, on May 18th. May 18th: Unikernels and Docker: From Revolution to Evolution – Austin, TX

Unikernels are a growing technology movement that augment existing virtual machine and container deployments with compact, single-purpose appliances. Two main flavours exist: clean-slate unikernels, often language-specific, such as MirageOS (OCaml, and HaLVM (Haskell); and more evolutionary unikernels that leverage existing OS technology recreated in library form, notably Rump Kernel ( used to build Rumprun unikernels.

May 2nd: Docker Meetup at Odecee – Melbourne, Australia

Alois Reitbauer, Chief Technical Strategist & Head of Innovation Lab at Dynatrace, is in Melbourne & wishes to share his experiences with us about managing large scale Docker production environments. Alois has regularly presented at various technology conferences, notably at DockerCon Europe last year where he presented on a similar topic. Alois has extensive experience in application performance and monitoring space, and has published an online book “Java Enterprise Performance.”


May 3rd: Docker Meetup at 121 Harrington Street – Sydney, Australia

Exploring micro-services in the Enterprise by Anthony Shaw from Dimension Data. Anthony will be discussing a research initiative with 140 participants where they look into what is stopping containers being deployed in the Enterprise. One of the main topics of discussion was networking, scale and availability. Anthony will discuss his teams research and findings in the Citrix NetScaler-on-Docker (CPX), due for public release soon. This will be the first opportunity in Australia to see this new technology.


May 3rd: AWS Wellington User Group: Docker on AWS – Wellington, New Zealand

Welcome to AWS Wellington User Group meetup #8. Our first speaker will be Mathew Hartley from Storypark, followed by Jeremy Olliver from Loyalty NZ. Each speaker slot is 30 minutes.
